On the lush alien world of Pandora live the Na'vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved. Because the planet's environment is poisonous, human/Na'vi hybrids, called Avatars, must link to human minds to allow for free movement on Pandora. Jake Sully, a paralyzed former Marine, becomes mobile again through one such Avatar and falls in love with a Na'vi woman. As a bond with her grows, he is drawn into a battle for the survival of her world.
" AVATAR ESSAY"

"Courtney's Environmental Science Scrapbook"
The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.
UNITED NATIONS
17 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
A collaboration between the The United Nations Education UNESCO, Olof Palme Peace Foundation, and the local marine park schools, administrators, educators, and students, to learn more about the United Nations, what it does, the need and role for youth in the United Nations, especially in implementing the future of the 17 UN Sustainability Goals.
One Marine Park Elementary School, Middle School, and High School, have been selected to learn about the the UN SDG goals, from an interdisciplinary NYC standards aligned curriculum-with a culminating series of contests (Essays, poetry, artwork, music) focused around the SDG goals specific to Marine Park.
Contest winners, along with selected students from each school will be invited to a culminating celebratory event at the United Nations, and showcase their SDG works.

This SDG aims to manaage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems from pollution, Enhancing conservation and sustainable use of resources, and international laws to help with some of the challenges facing the oceans, and other bodies of water.
Human life depends on the earth as much as in the waters for sustenance and livelihood. While 15% of land is protected-biodiversity is still at risk. Urgent action must be taken to reduce the loss of natural habitats and biodiversity which also help to support climate change migration and adaptation.
There is no country that is not experiencing the drastic effects of climate change. Greenhouse emissions are more than 50% higher than in 1990. Global warming is causing long-lasting changes to our climate system, which threatens irreversible consequences if we do not act .
Marine Parks famous Gerritsen Creek is where horseshoe crabs, and oyster toadfish come to
play!
Marine Park is home to many of our feathered friends - The Osprey, Ruddy Duck,Mute Swan,Heron, sparrows, Canada Goose, and Common Loon to name a few of the over 325 species found here!
Beach plants hold the sand of Marine Park's famous sand dunes.
A successful sustainable development agenda requires partnership from shared visions and goals, in the government, private sector, and civil society- at the global, regional, national, and local level.
The United Nations and OPPFI-UN NGO, are working to collaboralatively establish a small coalition of Jamaica Bay and Marine Park, Government, City, and Community Based Organizations, to assist in implementing Climate Action based preservation projects, identified and selected from the
